Forever Fortunate Felines is a foster-based cat rescue. Michela Onesti who is the President of Forever Fortunate Felines started her journey into cat rescue when she lost her cat Giles. Giles went outside one day and never returned. Michela searched for years for Giles and during her search, she visited many animal shelters such as Chicago Animal Care and Control. When she saw the number of cats in desperate need of rescue from animal control facilities, she was motivated to take action! And in Giles’s memory, Michela started Forever Fortunate Felines.
Forever Fortunate Feline’s mission is to save cats from animal control facilities and give them the love and care they deserve in foster homes until they are healthy and ready for adoption. We currently work with animal control facilities in Iowa, Chicago, Indiana, and Kentucky and we rescue cats in urgent need. We are a fully foster-based organization which we see as a large advantage as our cats are not kept in cages which can be stressful & have an impact on behavior and health. They have the opportunity to socialize with other cats, dogs, and kids in the foster home. Our cats truly become well-socialized and the foster parent learns all their behaviors and quirks that they can share with you prior to adoption which makes a completely transparent adoption process. Additionally, we pride ourselves on open communication between our foster parents, adopters, and our screeners even after adoption! We’re here for you every step of the way!

Setting themselves apart, fortunate is very responsive to all our questions and made the adoption process effortless.
I adopted my pet Emi from FFF. Michela Onesti, the adoption coordinator, and his foster mom were both very helpful and informative during the adoption process. They were also kind and showed a lot of concern about Emi to make sure he goes to the right home. He is very adorable, cute, and interesting. I also looked for a long time and definitely think there is something to this right human and pet match. I even saw an image of him in my mind when I was not looking at orange cats. But I am so glad that he somehow came to me and I am grateful for the help of FFF in finding my pet.
I recently had a very great experience adopting a 1-year-old cat from Forever Fortunate Felines and Lab Rescue. Michela, the foster home volunteer, was so wonderful to work with. She was patient with all of my questions and took the time to send extra photos and videos of Aspen leading up to his adoption. You can tell that the agency and its volunteers truly have a passion for the animals as well as their best well-being and interest in mind. Highly recommend!
Adopted our little gal from FFF in 2011. She is a happy and friendly girl and I’m forever grateful to FFF for their efforts to rescue and find “forever” homes for dogs and cats who are often overlooked!
