Store Volunteer:
This role involves going to one of our store locations preferably on a weekly basis and playing with our cats which are at the store. Interacting with the cats so they continue to get love and attention while not in foster care, giving them new food and water, and scooping their litter box are all important tasks for this position. Also, general cleaning and disinfecting of their area as required while playing and caring for them. This role is approximately 2 hours per week of volunteer time when you are able to help at least once a week. Although, the cats of course would love more when you can! This position is even great for respectful kids with their parents as a learning opportunity before getting a pet of their own! We have many store locations listed below in the application. **This role will have in person training at the store you choose.
Application Screener:
This role involves being assigned a potential adopter’s application. You will use your provided training to look over the application and call the potential adopter to conduct an informal phone interview to go over the application. You must also call the applicants’ references including their vet if they have one. After passing the screening process you can let the foster know so that they can arrange a meet and greet. This role requires good communication skills and matchmaking skills to bring the perfect applicant, foster parent, and cat together. **Virtual slide deck training material as well as orientation sessions will be provided to help get you started. This role can be done completely virtually from home. This role does require prompt attention to applications. We strive to have applicant interviews done within 48 hours of submission when possible as that means our cats get their furrrever home even faster!
Cat Biographer:
This role involves working with foster parents to prepare their foster cat’s online profiles. If you enjoy creative writing, this one is for you! You will be responsible to post the photos and videos provided by the foster parent, writing a cute online “dating” profile about the foster cat, and checking that key attributes about the cat are correct in the profile (breed, gender, age, shots up to date, good with kids, good with dogs, good with other cats, etc). You may need to request more information from the pet parent and update pictures as the cats age, they grow so fast! This role can be done completely virtually from home after completing provided online training.
Adoption Medical Review
This role requires the ability to be detail-oriented. The task involves double-checking the medical records for an adopted cat and changing the state in our database to “Medical Review Completed”. This will result in the medical history being issued to the new owner. This is the same medical history that is brought to future vet visits so it is critically important that it be accurate and correct. This is a time-consuming role and given that it requires a decent amount of training investment, we would want a volunteer willing to do this for the long term.
Fundraising Coordinator
This role requires an excellent organizational skillset. The responsibilities include creating an organization fundraising strategy, organizing “gala” events such as dinner parties, preparing for major fundraising days such as #GivingTuesday. This role would be equivalent to a full-time second job from a time commitment perspective. We do offer commission-based fundraising opportunities in addition to volunteer roles.
Transporter
We are always in need of cat transport. This is to/from spay and neuter clinics to/from our store locations and other locations. One example is we could count on setting up a transport once per month from your local neighborhood to our Spay/Neuter clinics. And with reliable transport, we can schedule up to 15 cats for surgery that day. Ideally, you would have an SUV as our transports may involve many carriers being in your car.
Graphic Designer
This role involves creating advertising and marketing materials on canva (provided by the rescue). You will work with event staff to acquire details of each event before creating the materials needed and make adjustments as needed with notes from event staff. This role can be done completely virtually from home and does require a computer.
Hometown Volunteer
This role involves helping in your neighborhood at small events such as a farmers market, various holiday events, food donation drives, and more. Often the events will be located at one of our partner pet stores or at a neighborhood event. Events will be listed and can be “claimed” if you see one you like. By choosing this role you are not automatically required to participate at every event.
Videographer & Video Production Editor
This role involves recording specific projects and then giving them to the editor who will piece it together to be a creative video or you can choose to do both jobs! Often times you will be creating videos to help with fundraising for the rescue. This role can be done completely virtually from home and does require a computer. If also recording you may need some small travel as well as recording equipment.
